How to Prepare Your Skin for Summer Holidays
Whether you’re planning a beach escape or just getting out and about more, summer means sun, sweat, flights, and disrupted routines — all of which can affect your skin.
At Platinum Cosmetics, we help clients prepare their skin for holiday season by building resilience, locking in hydration, and maintaining results from treatments like laser or facials.
Here’s how to get your skin travel-ready.
1. Book a Pre-Holiday Facial 7–10 Days Before You Go
A customised facial can:
Brighten and hydrate the skin
Gently exfoliate dull winter buildup
Boost barrier strength before sun or plane exposure
Our facials are designed to support all skin types — including sensitive or recently treated skin — and can be tailored to suit your destination (dry, humid, sunny, etc).
2. Don’t Overdo It Just Before You Fly
While it’s tempting to book last-minute peels or laser, try to allow at least 1–2 weeks before travel.
That way, your skin has time to calm and strengthen — especially if you’re heading somewhere with intense UV or heat.
If you’re considering skin rejuvenation, we’ll help you time it right.
3. Streamline Your Holiday Skincare
Travelling with your full skincare shelf isn’t always realistic — so we recommend 3–4 core products:
SPF 50 (essential, especially post-treatment)
Hydrating serum (like hyaluronic acid or niacinamide)
Barrier cream or moisturiser
Antioxidant serum (optional, for pigment-prone or sun-exposed skin)
We can guide you on skincare products that are compact, effective, and suitable for travel.
4. Focus on Maintenance, Not Change
Holiday time isn’t ideal for experimenting with new actives.
Stick to what your skin knows, and support it with hydration, SPF, and rest. If your skin gets irritated easily, avoid heavily fragranced resort products and use gentle cleansing and soothing formulas.
